Well, Christmas is over and I don’t know about you, but we are in the “uhhh….we spent a lot of money” and we-need-to-tighten-our-belts mode. Can anyone else relate?

So, I was in budget mode today. Our goal was to stay at $250 for two weeks. I came in at $222. I took out the remaining $28 in cash for mid-week shopping. Fingers crossed that we can stay under budget. It is the mid-week shopping that kills us a lot of times.

In the spirit of saving money, I bought dried beans this week for the chili: 3 bags at 12 servings per bag. That’s a looooooot of beans.
I’ve never used dried beans before so I am looking forward to cooking with them. This website gives promising advice. Wish me luck, ya’ll.

It also helps that we are eating venison from Aaron’s deer twice this week!
